Dressing & Grooming.

Introduction: Dressing and Grooming are important indicators of the physical and mental health of seniors. The effects of poor eyesight, loss or range of movement, and living alone can create issues in dressing and grooming that exaggerate the physical and mental losses.  A large mirror and good lighting may be all that is needed.

Suggestion: Standing length mirrors or floor mirrors (also known as "cheval mirrors" or "free standing mirrors") are typically used in the bedroom but may also be used in the bathroom.  Floor mirrors provide full-length standing views that are excellent for use while dressing.  Most freestanding mirrors have adjustable knobs that enable tilting views.  Placement of the floor mirror should be such that a back and side view can be seen in another mirror.

Commentary: A good temperature for inside the home for people as they age is about 78 degrees F.  When going outside in cooler weather, a good choice for women is a heated jacket.

 Woman's Heated Jacket

Micro-thin carbon fiber bundles in three heat zones warm the chest and back, and heat levels are adjustable—up to 113° F.  Rechargeable battery provides up to 5 hours of heat per charge, depending on heat setting. The ultra-slim battery pack fits in a chest pocket, and the mini controller can be accessed easily via the inside or outside of the jacket.  Woven softshell exterior repels damp, drizzle and light precipitation, while a windblocking layer helps prevent heat loss. Unique laminate layer helps outerwear to breathe, so you don't overheat. Zipper guard and collar lining help prevent chafing. Corded zipper pulls are easy to grab. Inner cuffs and two cinch cords help keep heat in. Flattering, tapered style.
